Textured Dish or Bowl: Slab Building Workshop

A relaxed, beginner-friendly 2-hour session making your own textured dish or bowl from start to finish.

You'll learn slab building and try a variety of natural objects and rollers to press texture into the clay, then introduce basic underglaze and glaze decoration, and carve patterns to finish your piece, all in one sitting.

Once it's dried, fired and finished with a clear glaze, it'll be ready for you to collect.

  • Your piece needs 3 to 4 weeks to dry and fire before it's ready to collect. Can't make it back in person? We can post it to you (postage charged separately), though we can't take responsibility for breakages in transit.

    
    

  • We'll hold finished pieces for 2 months after we let you know they're ready. After that, studio space just won't stretch any further, sorry!

    
    

  • Come with short nails and hair tied back if you can. It makes handbuilding easier. Wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy. Aprons are provided, but bring your own if you'd rather

  • Sometimes pieces don't survive the kiln. Such is the life of a potter! I can't take responsibility for cracks or losses during firing, but I'll always let you know if it happens to yours.

    
    

  • Workshops will have a maximum group number of 5 persons

    
    

  • The minimum ages for joining a workshop are 16 (or from 12 when booked with a parent)

    
    

  • Refreshments are included. Just flag any dietary requirements or allergies when you book.
