Handbuilt Ceramic Vase: Pottery Workshop

A relaxed, beginner-friendly 3-hour session making your own handbuilt ceramic vase, start to finish.

You'll try both slab building and coiling and choose which method suits the vase you want to make, then introduce basic underglaze and glaze decoration, with the option to try sgraffito or carving to finish your piece.

Your vase will be glazed on the inside with a clear glaze (and outside too, if you'd like), then dried, fired and ready for you to collect.

Pottery Class Information

• Your piece needs 3 to 4 weeks to dry and fire before it's ready to collect. Can't make it back in person? We can post it to you (postage charged separately), though we can't take responsibility for breakages in transit.

  
  

• We'll hold finished pieces for 2 months after we let you know they're ready. After that, studio space just won't stretch any further, sorry!

  
  

• Come with short nails and hair tied back if you can. It makes handbuilding easier. Wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy. Aprons are provided, but bring your own if you'd rather

• Sometimes pieces don't survive the kiln. Such is the life of a potter! I can't take responsibility for cracks or losses during firing, but I'll always let you know if it happens to yours.

  
  

• Workshops will have a maximum group number of 5 persons

  
  

• The minimum age for joining a workshop is 16 (12 when booked with a parent)

  
  

• Refreshments are included. Just flag any dietary requirements or allergies when you book.
