Ceramic Mug Workshop

A relaxed, beginner-friendly 2-hour session making your own mug from start to finish.

You'll learn slab building and try a variety of decorative techniques using tools for carving or rollers to press texture into the clay, then introduce basic underglaze and glaze decoration to finish your piece, all in one sitting.

Once it's dried, fired and finished it'll be ready for you to collect.

  • Your piece needs 3 to 4 weeks to dry and fire before it's ready to collect. Can't make it back in person? We can post it to you (postage charged separately), though we can't take responsibility for breakages in transit.

  • We'll hold finished pieces for 2 months after we let you know they're ready. After that, studio space just won't stretch any further, sorry!

  • Come with short nails and hair tied back if you can. It makes handbuilding easier. Wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy. Aprons are provided, but bring your own if you'd rather

  • For our workshops cancellation policy please see the main workshops page

  • Sometimes pieces don't survive the kiln. Such is the life of a potter! I can't take responsibility for cracks or losses during firing, but I'll always let you know if it happens to yours.
